Spring Break 2012

We debated if we should head north or south for Spring Break this year and the north won.  Had we known that the weather would be more like summer temperatures we might have planned differently, but we had a wonderful little getaway in Tennessee.
Our favorite excursion was spending time in Cades Cove Park.  These are turkeys.  We saw lots of turkeys.

And deer.  Skinny deer.

Cades Cove Primitive Baptist Church.

We got an unexpected souvenir from Cades Cove Primitive Baptist Church.  A primitively sharp rock pierced our tire and caused a slight problem.

The explorers that we are weren't hindered by a sharp rock.  We continued to explore an old grist mill.

This was an old house that had once been a store.

This is our hero changing our tire.  Thanks dad!

We enjoyed our time in nature and getting away from the city.

We also spent some time at a Titanic exhibit.  Aidyn has recently read a Magic Treehouse book entitled "Tonight on the Titanic" and has been curious on the topic ever since.  She learned some interesting facts from the book but learned titanic amounts from our tour.  No pictures could be taken inside:( but they had room after room of artifacts and replicas of several rooms.  The neatest thing was when you "boarded" you were given a boarding pass that was the name of an actual person on the real ship.  You were given a little history on your person and they let you know where to look for pictures of yourself or items that had belonged to you.  This intrigued us all because before leaving you found out your fate.  Myself, Houston and Hollyn were lucky passengers and Hugh and Aidyn not quite so lucky.  Really neat thing to see and even at our little ones ages they were very engaged and learned a lot.  Just ask them!

Everyone enjoyed the break.  Only seven weeks of school left.
