Memorial Day 2012

We decided on a spontaneous beach trip for the summer kick off.  Traveling while Hugh made calls and conference calls was quite interesting.  Include 2,438,285 other travelers headed to Orange Beach and you get the idea of our drive down.  Needless to say when we arrived Friday evening the kids were beyond anxious to hit the beach.

We planned to take a walk on the beach and play.  As you can tell from the pictures above it took about 20 seconds for everyone to jump in the water and get completely wet.  So we decided to change and head for the pool.

Great idea.  The kids got to burn off all of the lack of activity from being in the car all day.
Up next, a full day on the beach!  Houston showed us his summer physique.

The water was clear with no waves.  A great day on the beach.

Our pretty girls at dinner.

We called an ad from the side of a boat on the beach and planned a dolphin cruise for later that evening.  It was a great idea and we all had a ball.

Houston, who never naps these days, was out like a light in about 10 minutes.  We let him sleep until we started seeing dolphins.

We got to see a beautiful sunset as well.  We spent the next morning on the beach and then decided to head for home to get ahead of some of the traffic.  It was a quick trip, but so much fun.  Ready to go back for a longer visit!

Boy's Best Friend

Allie has been a part of the Lee family for over 12 years.  She used to receive our undivided attention until more members were added to the Lee fam.  Now, she is still loved, but doted on more by those in the family who have more time and a greater affection for furry friends.

Houston, especially, loves his Allie!  He knows how to feed her by himself and loves taking care of and playing with her.

Prima Ballerinas

The girls just completed their fourth year of ballet through Briarwood Ballet.  This year they really loved it and were excited about going to class each week and, of course, they were excited about their recital.  This year's theme was Noah's Ark and our class represented sunshine.  It was precious.

You are both so poised.

Aidyn ready to perform.

Hollyn getting warmed up prior to the show.

Their excited faces show they were on task and excited walking on stage.

Prior to the dances, all of the classes come together to sing and share a scripture.  They sang "Father Noah." Their verses were Genesis 9:13 & 15.

Beautiful smiles during the performance.

Daddy bought them beautiful yellow and orange roses to celebrate their performance.
We're so proud of how well you girls dance.  You have improved your dance skills unbelievably over the past couple of years.  I can see a lot of "polishing" of techniques that we started when you were 3! You both want to take ballet again next year!

Dentist and Hunting fun

I mentioned in an earlier post about what a pro Houston was at his first dentist appointment.  I have finally downloaded photos to prove it!
You had a nice conversation with your hygienist to find out what would happen during your visit.  This included trying out all of the equipment.

You wore your cool shades to keep the light out of your eyes.  I love how you had one leg ready for a quick getaway if you deemed it necessary.  Luckily, it didn't happen.

Dr. Martin took his turn checking out your pearly whites.

You were much more comfortable at this point and didn't have the getaway position.  Clean bill of health and back we'll go in 6 months.  High five buddy!

We had a wonderful Easter.  The weekend prior to Easter we went with friends to the Easter celebration and egg hunt at their church.  There was so much to do the girls never hunted eggs!  Houston hunted a few, but was way too into things like.....
riding a pony!!!!  We had planned for the girls to take a horse back riding lesson during Spring Break.  It was rescheduled for the following week because of rain but Houston was very intent on riding a horse since then.  You can see the happiness!

The girls enjoyed it too.

The happy group after 2 hours of play.

Popsicles to end the fun.

Houston had a sweet time hunting eggs and playing with his friends at school.  He really enjoys his time with friends.

Houston's sweet class and teachers.

The girls also had an egg hunt with their class.  We were surprised that a public school plans an egg hunt but we're not complaining!

Pretty sure I selected the silly class photo here!

Our annual Easter egg dying.  Dad usually mans this event.
